Waimarama Lodge has been able to offer guests added touches of hospitality with the help of two experts in their respective fields.

Stella Gordon is a renowned angler who, with her husband Peter, runs The Store at Te Rangiita, 8 minutes drive north of Turangi. Stella has recommended a range of flies and nymphs that are classics of the region. A sample of these will be waiting for you with the Lodge’s compliments as you arrive, in the hope that you will enjoy good fortune on the water. If you require any assistance with guiding or fishing equipment, contact Stella or Peter at pete&stella@thestore.co.nz, and if you want to read Stella’s latest reports about the fishing on and around the Tongariro, you can find them at www.fishing.net.nz.

Bob Campbell, MW is one of New Zealand’s foremost wine writers and judges and a Master of Wine. He is also a lover of trout and has been a welcome guest at Waimarama. Bob has recommended a range of wines that he considers are particularly suited to accompany trout dishes. The guest information provided at the Lodge contains a number of recipes for delivering trout to the table and Bob’s wine choices are intended to enhance that experience. One of Bob's choices will be waiting for you in the Lodge kitchen with our compliments. You are welcome to savour it, whether or not you enjoy success on the water! Bob’s wine commentaries are available on line at www.bobcampbell.co.nz

In addition several artists have contributed to the atmosphere of the house. Elizabeth Knapp’s striking painting in oils on canvas called Tongariro Dragonflies greets guests on arrival at the Lodge.

Marion Campbell regularly exhibits in the Auckland market and has a passion for rendering in paint and other media her visions of native flora. Her work Toi Toi Triptych is hung in the master suite. Marion’s work is often commissioned and she can be contacted with inquiries by email on vino@xtra.co.nz.

Nannette Quincey specialises in intricate works that evoke Maori themes and designs, often with a Celtic influence. She too has exhibited regularly. Her work 'Bending Flax' hangs in the entrance to the lodge house. Nannette can be contacted by email on nannetteq@xtra.co.nz

We would also like to introduce you to Marcel Ryda of Riverway General Store & Outfitters. Marcel is an experienced guide and has fished extensively the rivers of the Tongariro Region. Whether you are an experienced fly fisherman or just a beginner, Marcel is happy to share his knowledge and skills to ensure you have a great days fishing.
