If you are lucky and skilled enough to land a trout and wish to have it smoked for future consumption or for export, here are a couple of options for you to consider:
The Tongariro River Motel Smoke House; and
Turangi Fish Smoking - cold smoking and vacuum packing - ph 021-242-7241
Most guides will also arrange for your catch to be smoked, usually for no extra charge.
Unfortunately the smokehouse behind the Lodge house should not be used to smoke fish. It is probably the last original smoke house on the Tongariro
and we'd rather not risk losing it to fire!
